Ubuntuland will showcase some of the best of African art, fashion, entertainment, sport, tech and creativity and will provide a platform for artists from across the continent to showcase their work. Africarare is the first South African metaverse, housing digital land with roots in the African continent. It <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news24.com\/arts\/culture\/sold-out-collection-for-first-african-metaverse-20211025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sold out<\/a> it\u2019s debut Non-fungible token (NFT) art collection last year for about $50,000.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-techcabal wp-block-embed-techcabal\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"vlJu8ufhxc\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/techcabal.com\/2021\/03\/09\/into-the-unreal-world-of-nfts\/\">Into the unreal world of NFTs<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" title=\"\u201cInto the unreal world of NFTs\u201d \u2014 TechCabal\" src=\"https:\/\/techcabal.com\/2021\/03\/09\/into-the-unreal-world-of-nfts\/embed\/#?secret=vlJu8ufhxc\" width=\"500\" height=\"282\" frameborder=\"0\" marginwidth=\"0\" marginheight=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" data-secret=\"vlJu8ufhxc\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen an immense amount of growth in the NFT space marketplace and Metaverses across the US, Europe, Asia, there hasn\u2019t been much coming out of Africa. We feel there\u2019s a great opportunity for Africa to take part in this new world.\u201d Mic Mann, co-founder of Africarare said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=tvxnNTmS0rY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an interview<\/a> last year.<\/p>\n<p>This move comes after <a href=\"https:\/\/techcabal.com\/2022\/02\/16\/mtn-logo-new-telecoms-to-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">MTN\u2019s recent brand refresh<\/a> positioning itself as a technology company, rather than a telecommunications company. \u201cThis investment demonstrates MTN\u2019s commitment to supporting African innovation,\u201d the group said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Through its presence in the metaverse, MTN intends to increase its customer attractiveness through a series of experiences merged with consumer passion points, like gaming and music,\u201d Bernice Samuels, chief marketing officer at MTN group said.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside MTN, South African advertising agency M&amp;C Saatchi Abel also <a href=\"https:\/\/techcentral.co.za\/south-african-ad-agency-sets-up-office-in-ubuntuland-metaverse\/208276\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">purchased<\/a> its own plot of land in the newly created Ubuntuland.
